The DHS employees receiving awards are Richard Bennett, Scott Brady, Virginia Brown, Patricia Clark, Kevin Hancock, Randolph Nolen, Jeanne Parisi, Shannon Stiffler and Jill Vovakes, along with Christine Miccio of the Department of Aging. The Governor's Awards for Excellence recognize employees for exemplary job performance or service that reflects initiative, leadership, innovative and increased efficiency. Employees or a group of employees are nominated by a co-worker for the award. The employees involved with Community HealthChoices are among 47 recipients to be recognized for 2017. "We are so happy the administration recognized the hard work of the department's OLTL staff on Community HealthChoices," said DHS Secretary Teresa Miller. "This program is helping to improve services for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians and it allows people to have a choice, control, and access to array of quality services that provide independence, health, and quality of life." "The launch of CHC was made possible due to the combined efforts of many dedicated team members at the Departments of Aging and Human Services," said Secretary of Aging Teresa Osborne. "We are grateful that the team honored today are being recognized for their diligent collaborative efforts to ensure that older Pennsylvanians have access to long-term services that supports their desire to age in place." Community HealthChoices is Pennsylvania's mandatory managed care program for dually eligible individuals and individuals with physical disabilities - serving more people in communities, giving them the opportunity to work, spend more time with their families, and experience an overall better quality of life. CHC was implemented in 14 southwest Pennsylvania counties in January 2018. It will complete its statewide rollout by bringing the program to Southeastern Pennsylvania in 2019 and throughout the remainder of the state in 2020.
